BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING PROGRAM

The undergraduate nursing program aims to build a strong foundation for future nurses and midwives by:

  • Equipping Graduates with Essential Skills: Ensuring graduates have the competencies to provide comprehensive care, including promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services. They will learn to assess patient needs, develop care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Fostering Autonomous Decision-Making: Developing nurses who can make informed, independent decisions in various contexts, emphasizing critical thinking and advocacy for health equity.
  • Preparing for Diverse Work Environments: Equipping graduates to work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals and community services, through exposure to different clinical environments.
  • Engaging in Research and Evidence-Based Practice: Encouraging graduates to utilize current research to inform their clinical practice

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This four-year program provides a solid foundation in theoretical knowledge and practical skills for professional development. The curriculum integrates classroom learning with real-world applications.

Students will undergo rigorous theoretical instruction and hands-on experiences, with annual examinations assessing both their understanding and competencies. Clinical exposure under experienced faculty allows students to work in diverse environments and gain valuable insights.

By the end of the program, students will have a comprehensive skill set, a deep understanding of theoretical concepts, and the practical experience needed to excel in their careers, producing well-rounded professionals ready to meet industry challenges.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The candidates applying for admission to B.Sc. Nursing Programme must fulfil the following eligibility conditions;

  • Be a domicile of UT of J&K/UT of Ladakh as the case may be (For Candidates belonging to UT of Ladakh, ST certificate issued by Competent authority of Ladakh shall be treated as Domicile certificate)
  • Be at least 17 years old on 31st December-2025
  • Have passed the qualifying 12th Standard examination (10+2) and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together and passed in English individually including the candidates from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government having Science subjects and English only;
  • For the candidates belonging to reserved categories, the marks obtained in 3 core subjects shall be 40% instead of 45% for General category candidates be medically fit.
  • The candidates appearing/appeared in 10+2 (12th Class) examination 2024 can also apply, provided such candidates have qualified the examination at the time of declaration of the result of the Entrance Test /at the date of counselling or at the time of admission to the respective college, if selected, otherwise their candidature shall be automatically cancelled, without any further notice.
