The aim of the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing program is to:

  • The program equips students to make autonomous decisions in nursing contexts and to significantly contribute to patient care with empathy and compassion. The curriculum includes courses such as Maternal Nursing, Medical and Surgical Nursing, Microbiology, and Mental Health Nursing.
  • To train graduates to take on roles as professional and proficient nurses and midwives, delivering promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative care
  • To educate nurses in the application of evidence-based practices within the nursing field.
  • To prepare nurses to operate in accordance with ethical codes and recognized standards of practice while adhering to legal regulations.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (PB-B.Sc.) program is a two-year undergraduate course designed for registered nurses aiming to enhance their expertise and advance their careers. It provides a deep understanding of advanced nursing practices, equipping candidates with the skills to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in various healthcare settings

The curriculum covers advanced clinical nursing, health assessment, pharmacology, and evidence-based practice, emphasizing critical thinking, clinical judgment, and ethical decision-making. Key components include proficiency in surgical and non-surgical techniques, with hands-on training in wound care, pain management, and holistic patient care.

Additionally, the program addresses leadership and management in nursing, exploring healthcare policy, quality improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Graduates will be prepared to take on leadership roles and engage in lifelong learning and research.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

A candidate :
  • Must be a domicile of UT of J&K/UT of Ladakh as the case may be(For Candidates belonging to UT of Ladakh, ST certificate issued by Competent authority of Ladakh shall be treated as Domicile certificate)
  • Have passed 10+2 or equivalent from recognized Board and have obtained a Certificate in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and registered as R.N.R.M. with J&K Paramedical Nursing Council. A male Nurse, trained before the implementation of new integrated course besides being registered as a Nurse with J&K Paramedical Nursing Council, shall produce evidence of training approved by Indian Nursing Council for a similar duration in lieu of midwifery in any one of the areas such as O.T. Techniques, Ophthalmic Nursing, Leprosy Nursing, T.B. Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, Neurological and Neuro surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Cancer Nursing, Orthopaedic Nursing
  • Be medically fit;
  • The candidates who have appeared/appearing in final year/Sem. of GNM examination 2025 and whose result is pending can also apply for the same subject to the condition that they shall have to submit the final year/sem marks card at the time of counseling/admission, as may be decided by the Board, otherwise their candidature shall be rejected without any further claim(s) from such students.
